Baumkuchen is a cake eaten in Lithuania, as well as other countries
in the immediate area, such as Poland and Latvia. This cake is to
closely immitate trees found in the forests. When properly prepared,
it has annular rings, bark coloured to look like bark, and can have
"branches" protruding from the trunk. It is supposed to have a real
appearance, as trees remain pagan symbols and are supposed to have
spirits.
